Samuel William Ades was born Octo­ber 9, 1922, in Webster City, Iowa, the son of Marion and Ethel (Woodruff) Ades. He was raised and educated in the area of his birth, graduating from Webster City High School in 1941.

Sam served in the United States Army, 167th Infantry, during W.W. II, enlisting on September 10, 1943 and was honorably discharged Feb­ruary 8, 1946. On April 19, 1946, Sam was united in marriage with June Kiesecker in Des Moines. They lived in Webster City until 1955, moved to Ames until 1958, then to Fort Dodge for 2 1/2 years and then returned to Webster City, where they made their home.

Sam worked for Chicago Northwest Railroad & Railway Express and the Men's Shop. He then worked for the Fire­stone Company in Webster City, transferred to the Ames Firestone and then to the Fort Dodge Firestone. Sam served full time with the Army National Guard for over 24 years and was the commander of the HHB 1-194th FA, 34th In­fantry Division, in Fort Dodge, retiring from the guard as a Lieutenant Colonel. He then owned and operated the Maid Rite in Webster City for 5 years, then purchased the Gold Room in 1961 and the Dairy Queen in 1976. In 1991, Sam sold the business and retired.

Sam was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Webster City. He also belonged to the Tuesday Morning Diamond Kiwanis, the American Legion and V.F.W. Sam loved working, bowling, and fishing He was an avid base­ball fan and enjoyed watching his grandchildren participat­ing in sports and extra curricular activities.

Mr. Ades passed away on Thursday, April 7, 2005, at Mary Greeley Medical Center in Ames, at the age of 82 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Raymond, Roy and Bud and sisters Opal and Ruth. Survivors include his wife, June of Webster City, daugh­ter, Pam Risetter and husband Jim of Webster City, son, Kevin Ades and wife Kay of Indianola, 5 grandchildren. Burke Risetter and fiance', Traci Clausen, Heather Risetter-Bailey, and Ryan Risetter and wife Holly and Chad and Dan Ades, 3 great-grandchildren Brandon, Megan, and Brady Risetter and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held Monday, April 11, 2005, 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Web­ster City with Pastor John Grebner officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland cemetery, Webster City. Visitation is Sunday, 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
