Eleanor O. Larson was born in Eagle Grove on March 26,1913. Her parents were Lars K. and Anne Groth Larson. Her early childhood years were spent on a farm near Eagle Grove. She was raised by her grandparents, Inger and Ole K. Groth. She was educated in country school through eighth grade. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1931. In 1932, she married Ernest C. Hinrichsen. She was a member of Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, where she taught Sunday School for 35 years. She played the piano for the opening exercises for the Sunday School. She was active in the LCW, and a past president of WCTU, and of Rotary Ann Auxiliary.

Eleanor O. Hinrichsen died on Friday, September 4, 1998, at Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 85. Survivors include her two sons, Willert Hinrichsen and wife, Nancy, Green Valley, Ariz., and Dale Hinrichsen and wife, Jan, Coralville; three daughters, Joanne Pohlman and husband, Roland, Webster City; Beverly Hanson and husband, Steve, Osceola, and Ruth Brock, Arlington, Texas; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Loretta Wilkin, Denver, Colo. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ernest; one son, Eugene; her twin sister, Clarice Johnson, and sister, Gladys Tokheim; and one grandchild, Pam Hanson.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 8, 1998, at the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Reverend Carlton Shaw officiating. Burial was held in Rose Hill Cemetery in Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
