John Koenen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aeiko Koenen passed away April 9, 1954 and funeral services were held April 12, at Meservey Reformed Church, with Rev. E. Kampman officiating. Fulton Funeral Home in charge. Burial in the Meservey Cemetery. Mr. Koenen was born at Latimer, April 24, 1887. On April 25, 1911 he was wed to Annie Eckhoff. Five children were born to them. After farming in Meservey vicinity most of his life, Mr. Koenen retired in 1947 and moved to town to spend his remaining years. A heart ailment had caused his health to decline in recent years. Cancer ultimately caused his death when surgery was impossible due to his heart condition. His death came at 66 years. Surviving are his wife, one son Virgil, three daughters, also 12 grandchildren. Preceding Mr. Koenen in death are his parents, one son Elvin in 1948, three brothers and three sisters.
