Elvin Emory Koenen youngest child of Mr. and Mrs. John Koenen, Meservey, was born Jan. 1, 1927. He grew up and spent his boyhood at home with his parents, and in this community. This spring he was active in assisting his brother-in-law, Englehard Steenhard and his brother Virgil farming. Also one year he worked for General Mills at Belmond.

Tuesday May 11 Elvin had gone on a fishing trip to Clear Lake with a number of friends. it was here he met sudden and unexpected death by drowning. His untimely death came at age 21 years, 4 months, and 12 days. Those who mourn his early departure are the grief-stricken parents, three sisters,
one brother, seven nephews and three nieces.
