April 2, 1894 ---- March 22, 1971

Oved Earl Watson was born April 2,1894, at Areola, Ill., the son of Charles and Abrigale Seales Watson. He came to the Eagle Grove area as a youngster, and received his education in a country school near Eagle Grove. He engaged in farming after completing his education, and followed this vocation until retiring in 1949, and moving to Eagle Grove. He was united in marriage to Tressa Fisher of Eagle Grove, at Eagle Grove, on March 12, 1918. Mrs. Watson passed away on March 18, 1966.

Oved continued to reside in the family home on South Commercial after his wife's passing. He remained quite active, and spent much time helping on the farm, and with work around the Baptist Church.

He was taken to the Mercy Hospital at Ft. Dodge on Saturday, March 20, and passed away there Monday morning March 22, at the age of 76 years, 11 months, and 20 days.

He is survived by his son, Tommy Watson, Eagle Grove; two daughters: Eileen (Mrs. Delos Rogness), Estherville; and Betty (Mrs. Glen McCaulley), Eagle Grove; three brothers: Jesse Watson, Eagle Grove; James Watson, Springfield, Ore.; Cecil Watson, Newton; and one sister, Wanda (Mrs. Wendell Meggitt), Iowa City and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, two brothers, Glen and Fred. Mr. Watson was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, March 24, 1971 at 2 p.m. in the 1st Baptist Church, Eagle Grove. The Rev. Lon Schneider officiated, and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove.
