Alvin Anderson passed away Thursday, September 7, 2017 shortly after moving to State College, Pennsylvania at the age of 92. Alvin was born on November 13, 1924 and had been a lifetime resident of Iowa before moving to State College to be closer to his daughter and her family.

As a farmer, Alvin honored the Sabbath and lived his faith knowing that God would always provide for his family through times of drought, floods and perfect growing seasons. Being a life-long Lutheran and a Norwegian, he was a humble servant who always put others ahead of himself in all that he did, never wanting to bother anyone on his behalf.

Alvin was also part of the greatest generation and served his country in the US Army during World War II as part of the occupation forces in Japan. In June 2010, he was part of the Brushy Creek Iowa Honor Flight to visit the World War II memorial in DC. It was the first time anyone had thanked him for his service to his country. It was his honor to serve our country, his community, his neighbors, his family and his God.

Alvin was preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Gloria Fevold Anderson. He is survived by a son, Doug and his wife, Sue and his three children, a daughter Cara Anderson-Ayers and her husband Chris, Erik Anderson and his wife Susie and Matthew Anderson and a daughter Kris Eng and her husband David and their children Grant Eng and D. Anders Eng and his wife Molly plus 4 great grandchildren.

Friends of the family are invited to attend a funeral service for Alvin on Monday, September 18th at 11:00 am at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. A fellowship luncheon will immediately follow the service. Alvin will be laid to rest next to Gloria at the Blossom Hill Cemetery, Badger, Iowa. Foust Funeral Home, Eagle Grove.
