Silas Perry Hays was born in Lexington, Ind., July 4, 1854, and died Dec. 31, 1909. He was married to Florence Bon in Des Moines June 14, 1896, and came to Eagle Grove June 15, 1896, where he has resided ever since. He was hurt in a railroad wreck some eighteen years ago and always believed that his long illness was due to that. For the past eight years he has been a constant sufferer. The funeral services were held at the Methodist Episcopal church Sunday p. m., Rev. O. E. Chapler conducting the services, which were in charge of the Order of Railway Conductors, and the remains were laid to rest in Rose Hill cemetery.
