Funeral here for Mrs. E. Schmucker

Graveside rites for a former Eagle Grove resident, Mrs. Elizabeth Schmucker, 83, were held Tuesday morning in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mrs. Schmucker died Sunday morning at Bethesda General Hospital, Fort Dodge. She had been in ill health for some time and had surgery about two weeks ago. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. in the Chapel on The Hill, Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, with the Rev. Emmett Braselton officiating.

She is survived by one son, Morton, of Ottumwa and one sister, Mrs. Dora Owens of Oakland, Calif. Mrs. Schmucker was a long time Eagle Grove resident until she moved to Friendship Haven in 1964.

Elizabeth Jones was born at Barron, Wis., and lived in McGregor and Spencer before moving to Eagle Grove where she graduated from high school. She attended University of Northern Iowa, Cedar Falls, (then State Teachers College), and taught school until 1910 when she married Harry L. Schmucker at Eagle Grove. Mr. Schmucker, who was employed with the U. S. Government Postal Services out of Eagle Grove, died in 1940. Mrs. Schmucker lived in Eagle Grove until moving to Friendship Haven. Mrs. Schmucker was a member of the United Church of Christ, Eagle Grove; a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star, a member of the White Shrine, Eagle Grove.
