Daryle LeRoy Ryan was born on December 11,1927, the son of James and Minnie Ehler Ryan at Rockwell City, Iowa. He received his education in the Dows School System. He had farmed the family farm prior to entering the United States Marine Corps on February 27, 1946, at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He received his honorable discharge on December 12, 1947, at Great Lakes, Ill. He was united in marriage to Glee Babcock of Eagle Grove on June 19, 1949, in Wright County. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. His life long interest was in farming and in trucking until his retirement in 1992. He entered the Madrid Nursing Home in November of 1995. He was a member of the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church and the Eagle Grove American Legion Post #304.

Daryle Ryan, 68, died at the Madrid Nursing Home on Friday, March 1, 1996. Survivors include two sons, Walter Ryan and wife, Denise, Boone, and Rick Ryan, Eagle Grove; five daughters, Valinda Voigt and husband, Merle, Memphis, Tenn., Diana Miesse and husband, Jack, Puyallup, Wash., N. Ryan Kirst and husband, David, Tulsa, Okla., Cathy Layson and husband, Art of San Jose, Calif., and Lori Com and husband, Dave, of Poulsbo, Wash.; fourteen grandchildren; three brothers, Edward Ryan, Kanawha, Walter Ryan, Dows, and Glen Ryan, Hampton; four sisters, Ethel Korth, Dows, Elsie Rockow, Garner, Jean Walrod, Belmond, and a twin sister, Darlene Aldrich, Rowan. He was preceded in death by his son, Daryle Dean Ryan; parents, brother, Harold Ryan; and sister, Alice Slatkoski.

Funeral services were held on Monday, March 4, 1996, at 10:30 a.m. at the Eagle Grove United Methodist Church, with the Reverend Omar Pettersen officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery with Military Honors provided by the Eagle Grove V. F. W. Post #642 and American Legion Post #304. Willim Funeral Homes, Ltd., Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
