October 13, 1904 --- August 4, 1984

Arthur Cornelius Johnson, the son of Lars and Sady Christenson Johnson, was born on October 13, 1904 at Eagle Grove, where he grew up and attended the Eagle Grove schools. For several years he owned a delivery service and delivered groceries for the Eagle Grove grocery stores. Later, he worked at Cole's Meat Market. During World War II he was employed at the U.S. Naval Shipyards at Bremerton, Wash. He returned to Iowa and moved to Ottumwa, where he was employed at Nicholls Tools. He took early retirement and returned to Eagle Grove in 1968 to make his home. He was a life-time member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

He died on Saturday evening, Aug. 4, 1984 at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge at the age of 79 years, nine months and 21 days. He is survived by two sisters, Lettie, Mrs. H. D. Talmage and Miss Laura S. Johnson, both of Eagle Grove; a brother, James O. Johnson of Miami, Fla. and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Lewis and John; and two sisters, Marie Nelson and an infant,
Sady Johnson.

Funeral services for Arthur C. Johnson, 79, of Eagle Grove, were held on Tuesday, Aug. 7, 1984 at 2 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church Chapel with Rev. Paul Schaedig, church pastor, officiating. Burial was in the family lot at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Monday.
