JENNIE (SCHEPPLER) NICKLES
Funeral services for Mrs. Jennie L. Nickles, 85, were held from the Dows United Methodist Church on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 1984 at 10:30 a.m. Rev. Robert Ruleman officiated and burial was in the Graceland Cemetery at Webster City. The Willim Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Nickles died on Monday morning at the Clarion Care Center. Jennie was born near Woolstock on March 15, 1899 and was the daughter of John L. and Rosine Morrell Scheppler. She received her education in the area of her birth. She worked for a time at a grocery store in Woolstock. On Jan. 14, 1921 she was married to Ilo Nickles at Woolstock. They first farmed in Wall Lake township and in 1943 moved to a farm near Blairsburg. In 1959 they moved to a farm west of Dows. Mr. Nickles died in May of 1967 and she lived on the farm for several more years until moving to Dows. Three years ago she moved to the Clarion Care Center.

She is survived by three sons, Blaine of Galt, Bernard of Gilmore City and Louis of Des Moines, two daughters Mrs. Laveta Batcheller of Eagle Grove and Mrs. Duane (Dorothy) Peterson of Clarion; 20 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, a brother, George Scheppler of Rockwell and three sisters: Mrs Margaret Sheffield and Mrs. Irene Larson both of Clarion and Mrs. Emma Fortune of Webster City. Her parents, husband, and infant brother, one brother, two sisters and a grandchild preceded her in death.

She was a member of the Methodist Church in Dows and the ladies groups of the church. She was a past member of the Mulberry Helping Hand Club and Senior Citizens.
