Thomas Lee Arne was born on December 14, 1926, at Lake Township in Humboldt County, Iowa, to Norman and Thelma Cowan Arne. He served his country during World War II in the Navy. He worked for the City of Eagle Grove, Iowa, from 1961 until 1988 when he retired. He also worked as a custodian for the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove from 1961 to the present. He was a member of the United Church of Christ.

Thomas Lee Arne died Saturday, September 25, 1999, at his home in Eagle Grove, at the age of 72. He is survived by his six children, Connie Sears, Afton, Wyoming, Thomas Arne II, and his wife, Nancy, Eagle Grove, Carol Botts, and husband, Martin, Eagle Grove, Cheryl Stevenson, Holmes, Iowa, Christine Burke, Powell, Wyoming, and Steven Curtis Arne, Fort Dodge; thirteen grandchildren; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother, Don Arne.

Funeral services were held Thursday, September 30, 1999, at 11 a.m. at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Grove with the Reverend Eldon Jandebeur officiating. Burial was held in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. Willim Funeral Home of Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.
