Don Allyn Arne, the son of Norman L. and Thelma Cowan Arne, was born October 19, 1931 at Newton, Iowa. He lived several years in Massachusetts and returned to Eagle Grove, where he grew up and received his education. He was baptized in the Christian faith in 1951 at Webster City. On July 3,1976, he was united in marriage ,with Sharon Hughes in the Congregational Church in Eagle Grove. He had been employed by the Wright County Maintenance Department since 1956, and at the time of his death, was serving as a shop foreman.

He died Tuesday morning, April 1, 1986 at the Clarion Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion, at the age of 54 years, five months and 12 days. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Hughes Arne; his mother, Mrs. Thelma Arne of Eagle Grove; his sons, Terry Arne of Eagle Grove, Martin and Ronnie Arne, both of Goldfield, Randy Arne of LaPorte, Ind.; his daughters, Tracey and Amy Arne both of Eagle Grove; his brother, Tom Arne of Eagle Grove; his step-sons, Rick and Timothy Lenning of Ardmore, Okla.; a step-daughter, Jody Henning of Clear Lake; 7 grandchildren; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Leota Hughes Vogelsang of Kasson, Minn., and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Norman L. Arne.

Funeral services for Don Arne, 54, of Eagle Grove, were held in the First Assembly of God Church in Eagle Grove on Friday, April 4, 1986 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. Paul Jackson, church pastor officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove, with visitation on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
