Fort Wayne, Indiana -- Age 92

George Bennett Hogenson, son of the late Ben and Henrietta (Jenison) Hogenson, was born at home December 9, 1924 in Belmond, Iowa. He was raised and educated there until attending the University of Iowa and its College of Medicine. On August 25, 1948 George was united in marriage with Mary E. Black. The couple moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa where George practiced medicine for forty-two years before retiring in 1992. In 2001 they moved to Fort Wayne, IN to be closer to family.

George truly enjoyed serving Eagle Grove as their physician. Many days and nights were spent making house calls to his patients he dearly loved. In his leisure time, George was an avid sports fan. He loved his Iowa Hawkeyes and was a season ticket holder for most of his life. He also enjoyed playing tennis, wintering in Florida, and spending many summers with his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren at Lake Okoboji.

George went home to his Lord and Savior on Wednesday July 12, 2017 at the age of ninety-two. He was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-seven years, his parents, his brother John, and sister Ruth Hoag. Survivors include three children: Mark Hogenson, M.D. (Mary) of Cedar Rapids, IA; Jim Hogenson of Fort Wayne, IN; Nancy Mitchell (Tommy) of Fort Wayne, IN; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren and his older sister, Rose Christian. George faced his death with the confident assurance that his future in heaven was secure having surrendered his life to Christ in 1974.

I Corinthians 15:54-57 ESV

When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written:
"Death is swallowed up in victory."
"O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?"
The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 19 from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
