Theodore "Ted" Henry Lawson, the son of Earl G. and Peggy E. (Martin) Lawson, was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on January 26, 1968. He was raised and educated in Goldfield, graduating with the last class to graduate from Goldfield High School in 1986. Ted worked for the Meredith Corporation/Neo Data/EDS located in Clarion for many years. He most recently worked for Amwood Building Components in Toledo.

On April 28, 1990, Ted married Susie Crandall at Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove and together they raised two sons, Alec and Kaleb in Goldfield. They later divorced. Ted enjoyed golfing, riding his Harley Davidson, shopping and obsessively taking care of his lawn. He was a Green Bay Packers Fan and he liked playing football himself, playing for the Midwest Rampage Minor League Football Team in Webster City in 2012. He received the "Old Man Still Can" Award.

Ted passed away on Saturday, July 8, 2017, at the age of 49 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Alec Lawson; nephews, Gilbert Hirsch and Jimmy Lawson; brother, Ed Lawson and brother-in-law, Steve Essing. He is survived by his son, Kaleb Lawson and wife Holly of Ankeny; girlfriend, Bobbie Oltman of Marion; siblings: Marlys Summers Roe (Tom) of Webster City, Marlene Summers Elsbecker (Jerry) of Laurens, Donna Lawson Hogan (George) of Fort Dodge, Lori Lawson Essing of Fort Dodge, Sue Lawson Essing of San Antonio Texas, Howard Summers (Jan) of Kellogg, Harry Summers (Rhonda) of Fort Dodge, Herschell Summers (Angela) of Hubbard, Harold Summers (Pam) of Webster City, Tim Lawson (Eve) of Des Moines, James Lawson (Jill) of Knoxville, Mike Lawson of Fort Dodge and Rick Lawson (Jamie) of West Des Moines and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Memorial services will be held on Thursday, July 13, 2017, at 1:30 p.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Goldfield. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
