Funeral services for Anna S. Larson, 95, of Aurelia, Iowa will be 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at the First Congregational Church in Aurelia with Pastor Bruce Rapp officiating. Burial will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, rural Aurelia. Visitation will be Monday from 4:00 until 7:00, with the family present from 5:00 until 7:00, at the Redig Funeral Home in Aurelia. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Aurelia Legion Auxiliary, the Alzheimer’s Association, or any charity of your choice.
Anna Sophie Loux was born December 25, 1919, the second oldest of seven children born to David and Lydia (Claude) Loux. After graduating from high school in Woolstock, Iowa, she graduated with a Cosmetology degree from Storm Lake Beauty School and began working in Aurelia, later opening Ann’s Beauty Shop which she ran for many years. She also met and married Virgil Larson of Aurelia on Aug 20, 1938 at the Congregational parsonage. They celebrated 60 years of marriage together. Anna and Virgil loved to travel after they retired, and they made it to all of the United States and Canada. She was proud of being a Lifetime member of the Aurelia Legion Auxiliary. She was a resident of Sunset Knoll Care & Rehab Center in Aurelia. Anna joyfully celebrated her 95th birthday on Christmas Day 2014.
Anna died Monday, March 16, 2015, at the Cherokee Regional Medical Center in Cherokee, Iowa. Preceding Anna in death were her parents, husband Virgil in 1998, son Richard in 1984, three sisters; Velma Tesdahl, Iola Isenberger, and Deloris Boyd, and three brothers; Donald, Dean, and Loren Loux. Survivors include a son, Laverne and his wife Kay Larson of Burnsville, Minnesota, a daughter, Anita and her husband Jim Mackay of Manitoba, Canada, a daughter-in-law, Janice Grillo of Naperville, Illinois, six grandchildren; Lennelle & Matthew, Deron & Bret, Chad & Mark, numerous great grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
