Former Goldfield girl buried here
Funeral services for Mrs. Alvin Flieder of Ionia, were held at the United Methodist Church, Monday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Dr. George Den Hartog officiated and burial was in Glenwood Cemetery.

Mrs. Flieder, the former Darlene DeWitt of Goldfield, died April 9 at Rochester, Minn, where she had been hospitalized since March 20 following an automobile accident near Ionia. She is survived by her husband, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curt DeWitt of Winter Haven, Fla. long time Goldfield residents; two sisters. Mrs. Jane Thul of Eagle Grove, Miss Beth DeWitt of Winter Haven, Fla. and one brother, Don DeWitt of Chicago.

Darlene Gail DeWitt was born July 16, 1945, at Goldfield, Iowa, the daughter of Curtis and Evelyn Richardson DeWitt. She attended school in Goldfield, graduating in 1963. She then attended Hamilton Business College, Mason City, and then the University of Minnesota, where she received her B.A. Degree, and later, her Masters Degree in Social Work in 1974. She was employed by the Crestview Lutheran Home in Minneapolis, Minn, and later by the Comprehensive Systems in Charles City, Ia., as a Social Worker. Darlene was united in marriage to Alvin Flieder of Canby, Minn., on Aug. 28, 1971, at Goldfield. Mrs. Flieder passed away on April 9 at Rochester, Minn, of injuries she received in an auto accident on March 20. At the time of her death, she was 30 years, eight months and 23 days of age.

She is survived by her husband, parents, Mr. and Mrs. Curtis DeWitt, Winter Haven, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Jane Thul, Eagle Grove and Miss Beth DeWitt, Winter Haven, Fla.; one brother, Don DeWitt, Chicago, Ill. Mrs. Flieder was a member of the Goldfield United Methodist Church and the National Association of Social Workers. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 12 at 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Goldfield. Rev. Dr. George W. Den Hartog officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
