January 30, 1918 ---- September 11, 1980

Thomas Charles Stockdale, the son of Harry and Gudrun Berg Stockdale, was born on January 30, 1918, at Thor. He died Thursday morning, Sept. 11, while working on a farm near Eagle Grove. He suffered an apparent heart attack. He attained the age of 62 years, 7 months and 11 days.

Thomas was baptized and confirmed in the Ullensvang Lutheran Church at Thor. He grew up in the Thor and Vincent area. On January 30, 1939, he was united in marriage with Lucille Michehl at St. John's Lutheran Church in Vincent. To this union were born 16 children. Tom had farmed all his life and the family has lived in Eagle Grove for the past several years. He was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

He is survived by his wife, Lucille; his children: Eugene of Fort Dodge, Betty, Mrs. Tony Rasmussen of Lodi, Calif.; Robert of Indianola, James of Indianola, Joyce, Mrs. Clint Hill, of Eagle Grove, Danny of Fort Dodge, Jerold of Fort Dodge, Kenny of Mankato, Minn.; Connie, Mrs. Jim McConnell of Soldotna, Alaska; Diane, Mrs. Doug Terwilliger of Eagle Grove, Luann of Des Moines, Doris, Mrs. Jim Madson of Eagle Grove, Dave of Des Moines, Marcia, Mrs. Tim Sadler of Eagle Grove, Tim of Eagle Grove and Mark of Eagle Groye. Also surviving are 31 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, four sisters, Harriett, Mrs. George Pitts of St. Paul, Minn.; Marie, Mrs. John Larsen of McClelland; Dorothy, Mrs. Francis Abley of Kansas City, Mo.; Mrs. Verna Deal of Council Bluffs and two brothers, Raymond of Rutland and Richard of Kansas City, Mo. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Howard Stockdale.
