March 7, 1873 ---- October 31, 1938

Peter Dorenkamp, youngest son of Bene and Sophia Dorenkamp was born at Wymeer, Ostfriesland, Germany on March 7, 1873. He came to America with his parents when he was nine. He was married to Rieka Edens on February 13, 1901. To this union were born two children. Mrs. Dorenkamp was called by the angel of death on May 5, 1919. Mr. Dorenkamp and the children remained on the farm for several years until he was again united in marriage to Mrs. Emma Dorenkamp on July 7, 1927. Mr. Dorenkamp was active in public life and since last July was a member of the Immanuel Reformed Church. Although the deceased had been ailing for three years, he was not considered by the majority a sick man. He was up and around, even being in Belmond on business a few hours before and thus his death came as a shock to the community. He suddenly passed into the beyond of heart failure on October 31 at 7 p.m. He is survived by his wife, his son Bennie of Alexander and his daughter Dena (Mrs. Merle Hansen). Also 1 brother and 4 grandchildren. Funeral services were at Immanuel Reformed Church; interment at Alexander. A large crowd and many flowers showed he was loved and respected by his fellow men.
