Farmer, Injured in Fall 2 Weeks Ago, Succumbs to PneumoniaFuneral services for H. B. Dorenkamp, 79, farmer east of here, were held at the Immanuel Reformed church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. O. G. Poppen officiating, assisted by the Rev. Mr. Kampman of Meservey.
Mr. Dorenkamp lived in this community since 1882, when he came to America from Ostfriesland, Germany, where he was born Sept. 29, 1856. He was married to Miss Annette Stahl April 3, 1879, and Mrs. Dorenkamp and two sons came to America with him.
When he first came here he was engaged as a railroad laborer and later took up farming east of here where he since resided. Mr. Dorenkamp was one of the founders of the Immanuel Reformed church and was a charter member at the time of his death. He held the position as elder in the church 45 years and was superintendent of the Sunday school many years.
He and Mrs. Dorenkamp observed their fiftieth wedding anniversary in 1929.
Two weeks ago Wednesday he fell on a post while in the barn on his farm and suffered injuries to his back. Complication set in which caused death, static pneumonia being the direct cause.
He leaves his wife, four sons, Jacob of Meservey; Steve, John and Jim of Belmond and a daughter, Mrs. Sofia Gruis of Le Grande, Ore., and three brothers, Jacob, John and Peter of this place. He also leaves 35 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
