April 17, 1863 ---- February 24, 1952

John Henry Knight was born near Muncie, Indiana on April 17, 1863 the son of John B. Knight and Mary Johnston Knight of Scotch and English extraction. He died February 24, 1952. In young manhood he moved to South Dakota, coming to Eagle Grove, Iowa in the early 90's, where he was employed as a brakeman on the Northwestern Railroad. Later he was promoted to a freight conductor, June 4, 1899, passenger conductor November 1, 1931, and continued in service for 42 years. He was retired in 1933. On January 2, 1894 he was united in marriage with Nina Dye at Webster City, Iowa. They immediately took up residence at Eagle Grove and lived here continuously since. To this union one child was born, Ronald W. Knight, commonly called "Jack". At the time of his death he was a member of the Order of Railway Conductors.

He leaves to mourn his death, in addition to a multitude of friends, his widow, Nina, his son Ronald of Oklahoma City, two grandchildren, and two great grandchildren, a brother, W. O. Knight of Pierre, S. Dak., two sisters, Mrs. E. J. Rudel of Ventura, Calif., and Mrs. F. B. Sinclair of Los Angeles, Calif.

Funeral services were held Thursday afternoon, February 28th at the Kastler Funeral Home in charge of Rev. Harrison Dawes. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.
