William Paul Flower, the son of Paul and Nellie Summers Flower, was born on Sept. 25,1914 at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He grew up in Eagle Grove and graduated from the Eagle Grove High School in the Class of 1933. He was united in marriage with Mary Pletcher at Eagle Grove on June 23, 1937. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove and Paul worked with his father in the construction business. From 1944 to 1945, he served in the U.S. Navy and received his discharge in March, 1945 at Bremerton, Wash. He returned to Eagle Grove and was the owner and operator of the Modern Floor Service. Later, he farmed near Eagle Grove for 22 years. Besides farming he drove a school bus for the Eagle Grove schools. He was a member of the Assembly of God Church in Eagle Grove.

Early Tuesday morning, April 26, 1983, Paul died at the Trinity Regional Hospital in Fort Dodge at the age of 68 years, 7 months and 1 day. He had been in poor health for several months.

He is survived by his wife, Mary of Eagle Grove, his children, Rev. Paula Flower, a missionary in Dakar Senegal, West Africa; Rev. David Flower of Davenport, Iowa; Linda, Mrs. Irvin Rutherford, a missionary in Singapore; Alan Flower of Glendale, Ariz.; seven grandchildren; a brother, Marlen Flower of Seymour, Iowa; two sisters, Evilo, Mrs. Lloyd Pardun of Eagle Grove; Avenelle, Mrs. Leonard DeCamp of Boone, Iowa; several nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Scott Dean Flower.

Funeral services for W. Paul Flower, 68 of Eagle Grove, were held on Saturday, April 30, 1983 at 10 a.m. at the Assembly of God Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Paul Jackson, church pastor officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home on Friday.
