March 11, 1890 ---- January 15, 1977

Nellie Lavina Flower, daughter of William and Cecelia Belle Summers was born March 11, 1890 and died Saturday, January 15, 1977 at the age of 86 years, 10 months and 4 days. The early years of her life were spent on a farm south of Eagle Grove and in the year 1897 the family moved into the town of Eagle Grove. She was the eldest of three children. She graduated from the Eagle Grove High School with the class of 1910.

She was united in marriage to Paul Flower on October 15, 1913 and to this union four children were born: two sons: Paul and Marlen, and two daughters: Evilo and Avenell. They lived in Eagle Grove all of their married life with the exception of four years which were spent in Manly. She accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior in girlhood and was baptized and became a member of the First Baptist Church. In the year 1933, she became a charter member of the Church of the Open Bible where she attended and served as the treasurer for more than thirty years. She was also an active member of the Dorcas missionary society.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1956 and by a sister, Pearl Anderson. She is survived by one brother, Austin Summers of Belmond. She leaves to mourn her passing two sons: Paul of Eagle Grove; Marlen of Seymour; two daughters: Avenell DeCamp of Boone and Evilo Flower of Eagle Grove; 11 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services were held on Tuesday, January 18, at the Kastler-Babcock-DeYoung Funeral Home with Dr. Lloyd W. Meyer, pastor of the Church of the Open Bible, officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery
