February 14, 1868 --- May 21, 1930

Lars George Wood was born Feb. 14, 1863 at Wee, Etne, Norway, and died in his home, 420 N. Montgomery Ave, Eagle Grove, May 21, 1930, age 62 years, 3 months and 7 days. Mr. Wood came to the U.S.A. to Sheldahl, Iowa, in May, 1881, being then a young boy between 12 and 13 years of age. He made Sheldahl his home. On Feb. 8, 1890 he was married to Miss Betsey Dobbe. Mr. and Mrs. Wood lived near Sheldahl for seven years, coming to Eagle Grove in 1897 where they have resided continually until Mr. Wood now passed away from this life.

Ten children were born to this union, nine boys and one girl. One boy died in infancy and Anfin was killed in action in the World war, July 18, 1918. Eight children are living and together with Mrs. Wood now mourn the loss of a kind father and husband. Those living are: Eddie and Thomas Wood both of Eagle Grove, James of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Bert, Elmer, Lillian, Leonard and Sylven all of Eagle Grove. He is also survived by four grandchildren and by one brother, Lars Wee of Huxley, Iowa and one sister Mrs. Hellen Waaren, Eagle Grove.

Mr. Wood has been in poor health during the last six years but was bedfast only one week before he passed away. He bore his sickness very patiently, looking to God to carry him through for Jesus sake.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, May 25, from the home and from the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial was made in the Rose Hill cemetery.

K. Tweldt, Mr. and Mrs. John Dobbe, Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Dobbe, Ole Dobbe and Mrs. S. T. Larson all of Huxley; Mr. and Mrs. H. O. Hendickson, Ames; Mrs. James Nervig, Humboldt; Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Stockdale, Goldfield, Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Dobbe, Estherville, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Twiedt, Emmetsburg; Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Torgerson and Julian Lageson, Fort Dodge.
