Mrs. Betsy Wood of Eagle Grove died at Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge Tuesday, March 7 at the age of 92. Funeral services were held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Kenneth Torvik pastor, Saturday, March 11 at 2 with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery. She was born Oct. 18, 1868 to Oliver and Anna Dobbe in Polk County. She married George Wood at Slater Jan. 7, 1890. They moved to Eagle Grove in 1897 where she was a long time member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.

She was preceded in death by her husband George in 1930 and a son Anfin Oliver, who was killed in action in France in 1918, making her one of the oldest Gold Star Mothers in the state. She is survived by seven sons and one daughter: Eddie Albert, Eagle Grove; Thomas Richard, Eagle Grove; James, Council Bluffs, Bert Telleen, Eagle Grove; Elmer Gerhart, Fairmont, Minn.; Mrs. Lillian (Julian) Lageson, Fairmont, Leonard Clarence, Eagle Grove; Sylvan Gernet, Eagle Grove. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 11 great-great grandchildren.
