Leonard Clarence Wood, son of George and Betsey Tomina Dobbe Wood, was born April 14, 1907, at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He was educated at Eagle Grove and graduated from Eagle Grove High School in 1926. He then attended Dodge Institute at Valparaiso, Ind., where he studied radio and telegraphy, and taught code there for one year. In 1935, Leonard moved back to Eagle Grove. During the war, he taught radio-telegraphy at Rapid City, S.D. as an electronic engineer. Leonard was a partner in Wood Bros. Electrical Business until 1968. Mr. Wood died at his home Tuesday evening, March 13, 1979, at the age of 71.

He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers: Ed, Anfin and Elmer. Survivors include four brothers: Thomas of Humboldt, James of Council Bluffs, Bert and Sylvan of Eagle Grove; and one sister, Lillian Lageson of Fairmont, Minn. Leonard had been a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church, I.O.O.F. Golden Links, Lodge No. 68, and the Eagle Grove Chamber of Commerce. Funeral services were held Friday, March 16, 1979, 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove. Rev. Marvin Berkeland officiated and burial was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
