Bert T. Wood, the son of George and Betsy Dobbe Wood, was born on December 1, 1899, at Eagle Grove, Iowa. He grew up and received his education in Eagle Grove. He was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. For several years he worked with his father as a painter in the Eagle Grove area. During World War II he served in the U.S. Army. From 1945 to 1970 he was associated with his brothers in the Electrical and T.V. business in Eagle Grove. Bert was a long-time member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and was also a member of the American Legion, Clarence Shurtz Post No. 304 of Eagle Grove. He died on Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 24, 1982 at the Methodist Hospital in Rochester, Minn, at the age of 82 years, 11 months and 24 days. He had been an out-patient at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester for the past two weeks.

He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Lillian Lageson of Fairmont, Minn; two brothers, Sylvan Wood of Eagle Grove and Tom Wood, who is a resident of the Humboldt Care Center. He was preceded in death by his parents and five brothers, Leonard, Ed, Anfin, James and Elmer.

Funeral services for Bert T. Wood were held on Saturday, November 27, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Paul Schaedig, church pastor officiated and burial was in the family lot at the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Friday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
