Lorena M. Michalski, 89, of Fort Dodge passed away Tuesday, October 25, 2016 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 29th, 2016 at 10:00 AM in the Chapel of the Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home and 10:30 AM at Corpus Christi Church with Rev. Patrick Behm, officiating the Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will be held at a later date at St. James Cemetery, Clare. Visitation will be on Friday from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, C. D. of A. Rosary at 4:00 PM, and Vigil 7:00 PM all at Laufersweiler-Sievers Funeral Home.

Lorena is survived by her husband, Fred; children, Christine Schumacher of Ankeny, IA; Michael Michalski of Fort Dodge; Tim and his wife, Deb of Clare, IA; Angela Clement of Fort Dodge, IA; 13 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents Arthur and Mable (Warberg) Hay; sister, Helen Blunt; and her brother, Donald Hay.

Lorena Marie Hay was born in Vincent, IA on April 17th, 1927. She graduated from Eagle Grove High School and later she received her two year teaching certificate from University of Northern Iowa. On February 23, 1952 she was united in marriage to Fred V. Michalski. She was a teacher with the Newark School District for 6 years. She then taught at Holy Rosary for 2 years, 1960 and 1961. She then worked for Trinity Regional Hospital for 13 years as an I.B.M. control clerk. Lorena spent most of her time in the Fort Dodge area besides living in the Chicago area from 1979-1993. Lorena was a member of Holy Trinity Parish and Catholic Daughters of America. She was also a member of the Dodger Lions. Lorena enjoyed cooking, car rides with her husband of 64 years, and mostly loved and cared for her family.
