August 27, 1898 --- January 3, 2002

Flossie Eaton, 103, Eagle Grove, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2002 at Hamilton Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Foster Funeral Home with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Burial will be in the Lawn Hill Cemetery, southeast of Stanhope. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and prior to the service on Saturday.

Flossie Kathryn Hagan, daughter of Robert and Mary McIntyre Hagan, was born August 27, 1898 at Fountain Run, Ky. She received her education at Flatwood's rural school and Normal School at Holland, Ky. On Dec. 24, 1919, she married Herschel D. Eaton at Fountain Run. The couple resided in Tracy, Ky. for 4 years then moved to Stanhope with daughter, Marguerite, who was 3. They were met at the Stanhope railroad depot by Flossie's sister and brother-in-law, Bertha and Asa Cottington. They settled in the Saratoga area for 2 years, then moved to Ipswich, S.D. for 2 years. They returned to Stanhope, and son J.D. Eaton was born in 1932 when they moved to Webster City. Herschel died August 21, 1984. She had resided at the Stratford Care Center for 2 years, Southfield Wellness Community for 8 years and the Rotary Ann Care Center in Eagle for 5 years.

Mrs. Eaton is survived by a daughter, Marguerite Arntzen of Webster City; son, J.D. Eaton, Albuquerque, NM.; grandchildren, David and Karen Van Ginkel of Fort Madison; Michele and Kevin Trainor of Phoenix, Ariz., Annette and Mike Dosh of Houston, Texas, Jennifer Eaton of Albuquerque, N.M.; 10 great-grandchildren; 16 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Harold (Arnie) Arntzen, 5 brothers and 5 sisters.

She was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City, her former memberships include Clear Lake Farm Bureau, Webster City Women's Club, Town and Country Garden Club in Webster City, Stanhope and Webster City Senior Citizens Club and the Senior Citizens Band.
