Bret Floyd Allen, the son of Merle F. and Roberta J. (Ingertson) Allen, was born on March 25, 1961, in Iowa City, Iowa. He was raised and educated in Eagle Grove. Bret served in the United States Marines from 1979 to 1982. On March 29, 1991, Bret was united in marriage with Lorrie Schreiber in Clarion. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Bret worked a number of years for Evan's Lumber and Construction, was self-employed in construction, made deliveries for That Iowa Girl and recently became part owner of the Pizza Ranch in Clarion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hanging out at Allen Attig Acres, but most of all spoiling his grandson, Owen. Bret was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove.

Bret passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2017, at the age of 55 years. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Merle. Survivors include his wife, Lorrie Allen of Eagle Grove; children: Brittany Allen (Cody Stoecker) of Webster City, Brianna Allen (Jay Strait) of Fort Dodge, Brooke Allen (Phil Johnson) of Ankeny and Brody Allen of Eagle Grove; grandson, Owen Strait; mother, Roberta Allen of Eagle Grove; siblings: Julie Stark of Clarion, Debbie Allen of Clarion, Brad Allen of Fort Dodge, Alicia Attig and husband Doug of Eagle Grove, Denita Donahue and husband Dave of Burnsville, MN and MeLinda Ogaard of Iowa Falls and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at 11:00 a.m. at Evangelical Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation will be Monday, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion. Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
