LaVonne Doris Dooley was born April 10, 1926, in Fairview, South Dakota to Matt Andrew and Marie Elizabeth (Huser) Martinson. After her schooling in Inwood, Iowa, she went to Cleveland, Ohio to become a teletype operator. She was transferred to Seattle, Washington near the naval base where she met and married Marvin Dooley on June 7, 1946. They had six children. When Marvin was called into the ministry, they moved, to Saskatoon, Saskatchewan Canada where he completed his seminary training. LaVonne was a very significant part of this ministry in which she was a secretary, a choir director, a Sunday school teacher, confirmation teacher, Bible study and Retreat leader. She also held offices in various conferences for the women of the church.

LaVonne enjoyed music, quilting, reading, cooking, camping and spending time with her family. LaVonne and Marvin enjoyed camping throughout the USA and Canada with their children in a retrofitted school bus and later in their fifth-wheeler during retirement.

LaVonne passed away Thursday morning, February 23, 2017. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Harold and Clifford Martinson, her sisters Pearl Paulson, Evelyn Snedeker, Cleone Martinson, and two sons-in-law Philip Nelson and John Allen Morgan. She is survived by her husband Marvin Dooley and her children: Bonnie Nelson of Independence, Iowa, DeDe (Jim) Wagner of West Bend, Wisconsin, Gayle Morgan of Eagle Grove, Iowa, Kathy (Dale) Hinderaker of Radcliffe, Iowa, Tim (Barb) Dooley of Eagle Grove, Iowa and Dan (Mindy) Dooley of Emmetsburg, Iowa; 16 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, February 27, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. from the Samuel Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove, with Pastors Rich Taylor and Jason Cooper officiating. Visitation is Sunday, from 4 to 7 pm at Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Burial in Rose Hill Cemetery.
