WATERLOO - Edmond R. Peterson, 98, of Waterloo, died Thursday, Sept. 22, at Friendship Village Retirement Center of natural causes. He was born March 16, 1913, in Alden, son of Charlie and Jane Hamilton Peterson. He married Berniece Weber June 12, 1937, at First Presbyterian Church in Dows. He graduated from Alden High School in 1930. Mr. Peterson was a supervisor in Ham Boning Department at Rath Packing, retiring in 1978 after 41 years. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church since 1937, was an elder and a deacon, and a member of Toastmasters, Masonic Lodge.

Survived by his wife; two daughters, Darlene (Reuben) Drefs of Toledo, Ohio, and Janet (Jim) Ross of Iowa City; a son, Gordon (Lisa) of Cedar Rapids; a sister, Esther Nachazel of Alden; a brother, Erwin (Bonnie) of Iowa Falls; six grandchildren, Dwight (Justine) Drefs, Debra (Jim) Asbury, Julia (Tom) Ross, Jeffrey Ross, Hanna Peterson and Halle Peterson; and five great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by four sisters, Evelyn Olson, Erma Rupp, Elva Cecola and Elsie Crabtree; and a brother, Eugene.

Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, with burial in Memorial Park Cemetery. Public visitation from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Monday at Locke Funeral Home. Memorials may be directed to the church or Friendship Village Auxiliary.
