April 28, 1884 --- November 1, 1929

Charles Allen Van Schoyck, 45, living on a farm in Bennington township, died at 12:27 a. m. today at St. Mary's hospital, Rochester, Minn., of obstruction of the intestines. He had been ill since the first week in October and had an operation at that time. Mr. Van Schoyck was born April 28, 1884 at LeRoy, Ill. In 1891 he came with his parents to Eagle Grove, Ia., and to Waterloo in 1900. He married Miss Emma Shaulis on Dec. 19, 1905, in Waterloo. For some time past he had been farming in Bennington township. He was a member of First M. E. church. Surviving are the widow, two children, Carl and Helen, at home: his father, J. M. Van Schoyck, who lives with his son's family; a sister. Mrs. J. L. Gustofson, New Hampton, Ia.; brothers, Lloyd, Elmhurst, Ill.; Roscoe, 400 Baltimore street. Waterloo; Harvey, George, Ia.; Lyle, Chicago. His mother, Mrs. Josephine Van Schoyck, and sisters, Esta and Ethel, preceded him in death. The body will arrive at 9:15 p. m. today and be taken to Petersen Bros., undertaking parlors where it may be seen by friends tomorrow and Sunday morning. Funeral services will be at 2 p. m. Sunday from First Brethren church, conducted by the pastor, Rev. S. M. Whetstone. Burial will be in Elmwood cemetery.
