KLEMME — Nathan Strayer died Wednesday, Jan. 25, 2017, at his home near Klemme, Iowa. He was 70. Celebration of Life services for Nathan are being planned for a later date.

Nathan Wayne Strayer was born Feb. 28, 1946, in Algona, Iowa, the son of John and Faye (Humphrey) Strayer. He grew up in Algona and graduated from the Algona High School in 1964. After his schooling he worked in Webster City. On Feb. 4, 1967, Nathan was united in marriage to Marian Nichols in Eagle Grove. After their marriage they lived in Webster City before moving to Algona where he worked as an automotive technician. He later opened up his own auto shop. He ran Nate’s Auto in Garner from 1983 until retiring in 2005. He very much enjoyed working on automobiles as well as woodworking, gardening and was an avid gun collector.

He is survived by his wife, Marian Strayer of Klemme; son, Wayne Strayer of Davenport and his children, Anthony, Erin and Nicholas Strayer; daughter, Christine and Dean Schultz of Algona and their children, Victor and Elena Schultz and their son, Titus and Tawny Schultz. Also surviving are siblings, Johnnie and Louise Strayer of Kissimmee, FL; brother-in-law, John Bierstedt of Fort Dodge; Janice and Merle Hartman of Milford; Denise and Russell Latch of Mason City; brother-in-law, Gary Sandell of Buffalo Center and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Mary and Melvin Gray; Naomi and Gordon Hutchinson; Nancy Bierstedt; Bonnie Reedy and Doris Sandell. Oakcrest Funeral Services - Algona, Iowa.
