Jonathan Wayne Simons, 7, of rural Dows, passed away at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City on Tuesday, Oct. 11. He had been receiving treatment for leukemia for the past three and one half years.

Jonathan Simons was born in Iowa Falls on November 13, 1975, to Mr. and Mrs. Steven Simons, He was in the first grade at Dows Community School. Jonathan and his family received recognition in January, 1980 when numerous benefits were held throughout the area to aid the family with medical expenses.

He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Kelly and Nicci, both at home; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Arvon Simons, Hampton; maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ryan, of Hampton; and paternal great grandmother Mrs. Dagny Christensen, Coulter.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 Friday, October 14, at St. John's Lutheran Church, southwest of Hampton, with the Rev. Milton Eklund officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Friends may call Thursday afternoon at Sietsema-Vogel Funeral Home, Hampton.
