June 29, 1896 ----- February 2, 1963

Melvin Toresdahl, son of Asbjorn and Marie Toresdahl was born June 29, 1896 on a farm north of Holmes. He was baptized and confirmed in the St. John's Lutheran church of Kanawha. He was united in marriage to Beatrice Ulstad on June 28, 1916. They farmed in the Holmes, Clarion and Renwick area for 34 years. To this union was born two sons and one daughter. In 1951 they moved to Eagle Grove and were members of the Samuel Lutheran Church. For the past year Melvin has been confined as a patient in Ft. Dodge nursing homes. He died Saturday morning Feb. 2 in the Margaret Nursing Home of Ft. Dodge. Preceding him in death were his parents, Asbjorn and Marie Toresdahl, a son, Carrol Toresdahl and his wife Beatrice. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Richard (Vivian) Conrad of Ft. Dodge, his son, Richard Toresdahl of Tucson, Ariz. Also by 2 brothers, Edwin Toresdahl of Mason City and Albert Toresdahl of Stuart and by 2 sisters, Mrs. Halvor Olson of Hartwick and Mrs. Emma Heggen of Huxley. Also by 12 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday, Feb. 5th at 2:00 p.m. at the Samuel Lutheran church of Eagle Grove. Rev. Jordan Jacobsen officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery.
