Sven A. Torsdahl was born July 1, 1872 at Voss, Norway, to Asbjorn and Mary Toresdahl. He died May 26, 1952 at Eagle Grove, Iowa where he had lived the greater part of his life, at the age of 73 years, 10 months and 26 days. Sven came to the United States with his parents at the age of two. They lived for a short time at Huxley, Iowa, after which they moved to Wright county. Except for a few years at Oakland, Minnesota, he has lived ever since most of the time as a carpenter who built many barns and homes in this area.

On April 29, 1908, he married Thea Marie Tollackson. To this union were born four children: Alvin, Adeline, now Mrs. Clarence Orness, and Marcine, now Mrs. Don Hanzlicek, all of Austin, Minnesota, and James of Sea Isle City, New Jersey. Beside his wife and four children he is survived by six grandchildren, three brothers and four sisters. His brothers are Albert of Clarion, Edwin of Mason City and Melvin of Eagle Grove. Sisters are Hannah, Mrs. Lars Ritland, of Des Moines, Mrs. Tina Lien of Belmond, Emma, Mrs. Sanford Heggen of Huxley, and Alma, Mrs. Halvor Olson of Stewart. Sven Toresdahl was a devoted husband and father and a local member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church for many years. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon in the Evangelical Lutheran church. Interment at Rose Hill cemetery.
