April 17, 1878 --- April 26, 1962

Funeral services for Mrs. Myrtle Bell, 84, were held Sunday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the United Presbyterian Church with the Rev. J. Curtiss Russell officiating. The Eyler Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Bell died Thursday morning at the Clarion Memorial Hospital where she had been a patient for only a few days.

The former Myrtle Sumners, Mrs. Bell was born in DeWitt County, Illinois and came to Clarion when she was seven years old. In 1896 she married David Bell. They farmed in the area for many years and then retired and moved to Clarion. Mrs. Bell was a long time member of the United Presbyterian Church and belonged to the Ceres Pioneer Club.

Her husband preceded her in death. Surviving are six children, Ruth Bell and Jean (Mrs. Wendell Gardner) of Clarion; June (Mrs. Harold Allen) of Falls Church, Virginia; Floyd Bell of Santa Ana, Calif.; Samuel Bell of Albia and Paul Bell of Algona; 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Dell Smith of Clarion.
