Mrs. F. L. Smith, 74, of San Benito, Texas and formerly of Newton, Iowa, died at her home in San Benito following a coronary thrombosis Friday evening, March 20. Funeral services were held at the Kastler Funeral Home here Tuesday at 2 p.m. Burial was beside her husband Dr. Frank L. Smith, in Rose Hill cemetery. The Rev. Marion Blake of the First Congregational church officiated.

Mrs. Smith is survived by two daughters Mrs. Edward L. Cooper of Altamont, N.Y., and Mrs. Maurice B. Crabbe of Eagle Grove. Also two grandchildren Alice Margery Crabbe now Mrs. John Stell of Mallen, MO., and Cadet James Maurice Crabbe of West Point, N.Y. One sister Miss Doris Fessler of Silver Springs, Maryland, also survives. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and one brother Fred Fessler of Monroe, Iowa.

Mrs. Smith had been living in San Benito since the death of her husband. Dr. and Mrs. Smith had made their home in the Valley for 11 years following Dr. Smith's retirement front medical practice in Newton, Iowa. For a time following that period they made their home with their daughter and husband Dr. and Mrs. E. L. Cooper in New York. Mrs. Smith's health had not been good for the past year but her fatal heart attack was sudden and unexpected.
