July 21, 1885 --- May 7, 1968

William Herman Grill was born July 21, 1885 at Belle Plaine, Iowa, the oldest son of John and Sophia Grill. He was baptized at the Lutheran Church in Alvord on June 3, 1888 and was confirmed in the same church on March 31, 1901 by Rev. E. Gillmann He died at the Health Center, Friendship Haven, Fort Dodge, on Tuesday, May 7,
1968 after reaching the age of 82 years, 9 months and 17 days. Mr. Grill spent most of his youth in Alvord, Iowa On October 12, 1921 he was married to Frances M. Glaspool at Council Bluffs Following their marriage they lived for 10 years in Alvord and in 1932 came to Eagle Grove. He was bank president while at Alvord and when they came to Eagle Grove he served as an auditor to help close a bank, He then entered into the real estate and insurance business. He has been a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church since 1937. In 1961 he suffered a heart attack and retired from active business and following a fall about 2 years ago. he had been confined to his home.

Those preceding him in death were his parents, a daughter, Lois, who died at the age of 6 and his sisters, Mary, Emma and Clara and his brother, John. Those who mourn his departure are his wife, one son. Capt. Robert Grill of the U.S. Navy in Pensacola, Florida, one daughter, Fern, Mrs. Lewis Larsen of Eagle Grove and 7 grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Thursday, May 9 at 2 p.m. at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Pastor H W. Schiller, with interment in Rose Hill Cemetery.
