Illness Is Fatal To Earl Buckingham
Services Monday In Methodist Church For Eagle Grove Business Man

Funeral services for Earl Buckingham were held at the Methodist church Monday, July 29 with Rev. Roy Cox and Rev. Clarence Tompkins officiating. Interment was in Memorial Park Cemetery in Fort Dodge. Mr. Buckingham had suffered a heart attack in 1946 and had been in failing health much of the time since that date. He with his wife had operated the New Eagle Hotel here since 1936. He was a member of and active in the Methodist church, the American Legion and Rotary clubs until his health made his attendance impossible.

Mr. Buckingham was born in Connellsville, Pa. in 1893. He died at his home in Eagle Grove on July 24 at the age of 64 years. He moved to Humboldt with his parents as a child and attended schools there. He married Blanche Fagen of Sioux Rapids, Iowa, in September of 1919. Surviving him are his wife, one daughter, Mrs. Joy Ann Dimler of Columbus, Ga„ two sons, James D. Buckingham of San Antonio, Texas and Robert L. Buckingham of Chicago, Ill. and also one brother, Wm. A. Buckingham of Dakota City. Obituary notice will be found elsewhere in this paper.

Earl Victor Buckingham, son of William and Sarah Ann Buckingham, was born May 16, 1893 at Connellsville, Pennsylvania and passed away at his home in Eagle Grove Iowa, on July 24th, 1957. In February 1946 Mr Buckingham was stricken with a heart attack and has been in falling health much of the time since. When he was four years old he and his parents moved to Humboldt, Iowa where he attended public school. Later he was associated with the Estherville Grocery Co., as a young man. From this work he entered the military service of his country in 1918 and served until his discharge on April 24, 1919. On September 13, 1919 he was united in marriage to Blanche Loretta Fagen in the Methodist Cnurch at Sioux Rapids, Iowa. For 15 years he was associated with Hilltop Laboratories of Minneapolis, traveling over Iowa as their representative, prior to his illness. The Buckinghams have made their home in Eagle Grove since 1936. During the past eleven years Mr. Buckingham has been associated with his wife in the hotel business in Eagle Grove. Mr. Buckingham is survived by his wife and one daughter, Joy Ann Dimler of Columbus, Georgia; also two sons, James D. Buckingham of San Antonio, Texas, and Robert L. Buckingham of Chicago, Illinois; one brother, William A. Buckingham of Dakota City, Iowa and seven grandchildren. Mr. Buckingham was a member of the Methodist Church of Eagle Grove and and he has maintained his membership in the American Legion for over 35 years, as well as membership in the Rotary Club and the Odd Fellows Lodge. Eagle Grove has lost a kindly, friendly citizen and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
