Funeral today for Mrs. Blanche Buckingham

Mrs. Blanche Buckingham, former Eagle Grove businesswoman, died Sunday morning at Trinity Lutheran Hospital, following a short illness. She was taken to the hospital Saturday after becoming suddenly ill. Funeral services will be this (Wednesday) afternoon at 2 o'clock in the United Methodist Church in charge of the pastor Rev. Donald Callen, and former pastor, Rev. Donald Forbes, now of Ames. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery, Fort Dodge. Mrs. Buckingham is survived by one daughter and two sons, Mrs. Vernon Johanson of Eagle Grove; Robert of Homewood, HI. and James of New Braunfels, Tex.; also eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Buckingham was born in Keota, June 14, 1898, and was educated in the Sioux Rapids, Ia. schools. She was married to Earl Buckingham in Sioux Rapids, Sept. 13, 1919. They lived in the Fort Dodge, Webster City and Humboldt areas before moving here in 1937. Mrs. Buckingham at one time operated Blanche's Coffee Shop in the basement of the building now housing KQWC and they owned and operated the Eagle Hotel for many,
years. Mr. Buckingham died in 1957 and Mrs. Buckingham retired from the hotel in 1969. Since that time she had traveled extensively and recently returned from Arizona where she spent several months. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, The American Legion Auxiliary and the Business and Professional Women's Club.
