March 18, 1923 ---- September 3, 2010

James D. Buckingham passed away peacefully on Sept. 3, 2010, in New Braunfels [Texas]. Mr. Buckingham was born in Webster City, Iowa, on March 18, 1923. He was the son of Earl Victor Buckingham and Blanche (Fagen) Buckingham. On June 22, 1945, he married Virginia Lowe in Waterloo, Iowa. Mr. Buckingham was a district manager for Fram Corporation for 29 years, retiring in 1983. He began his career with Fram in Clinton, Iowa, and was later transferred to Pittsburgh, Pa., and then to San Antonio, before relocating to New Braunfels in 1972.

He was a past member of Sertoma, Noon Lions Club and a current member of the American Legion. During his retirement years, Mr. Buckingham was very generous with his time and volunteered at many organizations. He received the Lion of the Year award in 1995 in recognition of outstanding service. He served his country in the U.S. Army during WWII from 1943-1946.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Virginia; his daughter, Linda Taylor of Houston; two grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his brother, Robert Buckingham of Chicago, Ill. He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister.

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010, at 2 p.m. at Doeppenschmidt Funeral Home in New Braunfels.
