Louise R. Rochet was born January 14, 1903, in Woolstock, Iowa and attended Woolstock schools. She received her degree in education from Iowa State Teachers college in 1926 and a master's degree from the University of Northern Iowa. She was an elementary teacher at the Woolstock schools for 15 years and then taught at Iowa Falls for 36 years, also serving as principal during the last 29 years. She retired in the early 1970s and returned to Woolstock. She moved to Sioux City 10 years ago. She was instrumental in the development of the Iowa Basic Skills test and was selected twice as Teacher of the Year. She was a Methodist.

Louise R. Rochet, 92, Sioux City, died Saturday, October 7, 1995, at Sunrise Manor following a short illness. Survivors include a niece, Tanjla Vasques and her husband, Mark of Lakewood, Colo.; a nephew, Brett Wood of Minneapolis, Minn.; and two great-nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Barbara Johnson.

Services were held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 10, 1995, at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel with the Reverend Marvin Mueller, chaplain of Sunrise Manor officiating. Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
