December 24, 1885 ---- February 12, 1985

Last rites for Katie Olhausen, 99, of Hartley, were held Saturday, February 16, 1985 at 10:30 a.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, Hartley. The Rev. Bernard Sayler officiated. Casket bearers were Karl Olhausen, Glen Olhausen, Wilbert Fredericks, Cloy Olhausen, Marvin Olhausen and Norman Lux. Burial was at Pleasant View Cemetery, Hartley, with the Baumgarten Funeral Home, Hartley in charge of arrangements.

Katie Olhausen, the daughter of John and Rachel Behringer Neebel, was born on December 24, 1885 in Black Hawk County, Iowa. She received her early education near her childhood home. When Katie was a young woman, her family moved to the Goodell, Iowa area where they lived until coming to the Hartley area where they engaged in farming. She was united in marriage to Jacob Olhausen on March 12, 1908 at her parents farm north of Hartley. Katie continued her partnership in Neebel's Danceland at Hartley for many years thereafter. She was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ at Hartley, and a member of the Dorcas Society there for many years. She was also a charter member and member of the Ladies Aid until they disbanded.

Katie passed away on February 12, 1985 at the Mann Memorial Nursing Wing in Hartley where she was currently making her home. She had reached the age of 99 years. Preceding her in death were her husband, Jake in 1932, her parents; one brother, Elmer Neebel; one daughter, Mrs. G. P. (Irene) Cole; and one granddaughter, Kathleen Olhausen. Left to cherish her memory are two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Neva) Tibbetts of Spencer, and Mrs. Donald (Doris) Keefer of Neenah, Wisconsin; one son, Milo Olhausen of Hartley, five grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
