December 26, 1885 ---- February 7, 1962

John Goater, son of Alfred and Catherine Goater, was born Dec. 26, 1885 in Butler Co., Pa. He passed away at his home in Eagle Grove, Ia. Feb. 7, 1962, at the age of 76. During early childhood, he moved with his parents to Kirksville, Ia., and later to a farm near Chariton.

On Oct. 2, 1912, he was united in marriage to Floy Isis Conner. To them were born four children, three of whom have preceded him in death. His wife also preceded him in death in 1949. He leaves to mourn his passing, a son, Charles L., of Eagle Grove, and three grandchildren, Michael, Gayla and Richard Goater. He also leaves two sisters, Miss Anna Goater and Mrs. Kathryn Swanson, and a brother, Edgar Goater, all of Chariton, in addition to many other relatives and friends. Services were conducted at the Beardsley-Fielding Funeral Home Saturday, Feb. 10 at 2 p.m. with the Rev. John Bauserman officiating. Interment was at the Chariton cemetery.
