Earnest L. “Ernie” Tudor, 77 of Waverly, Iowa, died on Thursday, January 20, 2005 at Allen Memorial Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa.

Earnest was born on July 9, 1927 near Belmond, Iowa, the son of Loren C. and Gladys (Smith) Tudor. He was baptized and confirmed at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, Osage, Iowa. He attended school in Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School. He served in the US Army from 1945-1947. After returning from the service he farmed in the Charles City area. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Voight on March 26, 1950 in Osage, Iowa. After their marriage the couple farmed near Charles City, Iowa. Later the couple moved to Osage and farmed in that area. In 1970, they moved to Waverly, Iowa and Earnest started working at Kirkies Implement. He later started working for Waverly Municipal Utilities. He started work at Lutheran Mutual (later Century) in Waverly in 1975. He retired from there on December 31, 1993.

He was a past Master of the Waverly Tyrell Lodge, was a member of Waverly O.E.S., Waverly American Legion, Scottish Rite and Redeemer Lutheran Church. Earnest enjoyed woodworking and over the years helped many people with his Locksmithing.

He is survived by his wife, Evelyn of Waverly, one daughter, Pamela Goodman and her husband, Harlan of Waverly, Iowa; one son, Wayne Tudor of Adel, Iowa; three grandchildren, five great grandchildren; one brother, Hurvey Tudor and his wife, Virginia of Charles City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one granddaughter, Michelle Platte.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 24, 2005 at 10:30 am at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Waverly, Iowa. Burial will be at 1:00 pm on Monday in Sunnyside Cemetery, Charles City, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 1:00 pm to 8:00 pm at Kaiser-Corson Funeral Home, Waverly. There will be a 7:00 pm Eastern Star and Masonic Service on Sunday at the funeral home. Visitation will also be for one hour before services at the church on Monday. Memorials may be directed to the family or to the American Heart Association.
