Funeral services for Elfrieda Dencklau, 83, Vincent, were held Friday, Dec. 30, 1988 at Grace Lutheran Church, Fort Dodge. Rev Brian Hagglund conducted the 11:00 am service. Interment was held in the Colfax Township Cmmetery, Vincent. Mrs. Dencklau passed away Tuesday night, Dec. 27 at Trinity Regional Hospital, Fort Dodge, following a sudden illness. During the service Chris Messerly sang, "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Master Let Me Walk With Thee" accompanied by Ruth Bode. Bearers were Alvin Schlieske, Dennis Dencklau, Raymond Korf, Maynard Rossow, Ray Zabel and Darvin Flamme.
Elfrieda Koester was born on Saturday, Feb. 11, 1905 at Judd. She was the daughter of Jacob and Amelia (Zabel) Koester. Elfrieda moved as a girl to a farm near Vincent and attended school in Colfax Township. Elfrieda married Anton J. Dencklau in 1923 at St. John Lutheran Church, Vincent. The couple lived on a farm near Vincent. Elfrieda moved to the Vincent Apartments in November after living on the farm for 63 years. Elfrieda was a member of United Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Post 1856.
Mr. Dencklau passed away in 1966. Survivors include sons, Harold Dencklau, Allen Dencklau, Dale Dencklau, Merlin Dencklau and Earl Dencklau all of Vincent; LeRoy Dencklau, Thor; Richard Dencklau, Brighton, CO; Donald Dencklau, Delbert Dencklau and Larry Dencklau, all of Fort Dodge; daughters, Lorraine Larson, Badger; LuVerna Wilson, Duncombe; Joan Adson, Vincent; Jane Konvalinka, Harcourt; Betty Anderson, Fort Dodge; 61 grandchildren; 90 great grand children; one great great grand daughter; brother, Adolf Koester, Fort Dodge; sister, Thelma Koester, Vincent.
