Gladys F. Rossow, 93, of Fort Dodge, died Wednesday, October 9, 2013, at her home. A service honoring Gladys' life will be 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, at St. John's Lutheran Church with the Rev. William Van Nostrand officiating. Interment will be in Colfax Township Cemetery. Visitation is Saturday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services. Memorials may be directed to the discretion of the family.

Gladys is survived by her children, Eldon (Karen) Rossow, Fort Dodge; Marshel (Linda) Rossow, Mankato, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Stacey Hamilton, Lance (Jeannie) Rossow, Brent (Andrea) Rossow and Rebecca Rossow (Zack Strasser); nine great-grandchildren, Morgan, Tori, Todd, Jake, Riley, Tristan, Aislinn, Shaw and Anika. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Eldo, son Lowell, and brothers, Alvin and Lawrence Messerly.

Gladys Freda Messerly, the daughter of Harley and Freda (Lempke) Messerly, was born January 7, 1920, in Webster County. She attended country schools and graduated from Fort Dodge Senior High in 1938. She was employed with the Boston Store and then Essinger Electric as a bookkeeper. On April 3, 1941, Gladys was united in marriage to Eldo Rossow at St. John's Lutheran Church. Gladys was a homemaker and a proud farm wife. Gladys was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church. She enjoyed baking and was well known for her pies. She treasured time spent with her family and will be remembered for her compassion for other people and putting others first.
