Mrs. Geneva Elnora Kaufman, 45, of Pendleton, Oregon, a former Humboldt resident, died suddenly after a lingering illness Sunday, August 21, 1966, at St. Anthony's Hospital, Pendleton, Oregon, at the age of 45 years, three months, and seven days. Mrs. Kaufman, the former Geneva Steffa, youngest daughter of the late John and Lizzie Steffa, was born at Hardy May 14, 1921. She received her formal education in the Humboldt County schools and graduated from the Humboldt High School. In 1946, she moved to Pendleton, Oregon, where she was employed for many years in the Pendleton Woolen Mills until retiring because of failing health. She was united in marriage with Russell T. Kaufman of Pendleton, Oregon, on October 29, 1949. To this union were born three children. Among the surviving are her husband, Russell; two sons, John, 15, and Denton, 7; a daughter, Christine Elizabeth, 6; two brothers, Oliver Steffa of Pittsfield, Illinois, and Clarence Steffa of Humboldt; and three sisters, Mrs. Raymond (Hazel) Birnbaumer of Hardy, Mrs. Otto (Mary) Huss of Osceola, Iowa, and Mrs. Raymond (Edith) Farmer of Pendleton, Oregon. Also surviving are two aunts, Delia Meyers of Osceola, Iowa, and Mrs. Denton Meyers of Pomona, Calif., and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 24. 1966, at the Folsums Funeral Chapel with interment in the Olney Cemetery at Pendleton, Oregon. Casket bearers were W. Louis Jones, Bryan Branstetter, David Boatwright, Fred Pointer, Nugent Powers and George Rugh. Dee Vest officiated. Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Birnbaumer of Hardy, Clarence Steffa of Humboldt, and Mr. and Mrs. Otto Huss of Osceola, Iowa, drove to Pendleton, Oregon, last week to attend the funeral of Mrs. Russell Kaufman, who was their sister.
